Can you believe Barbie is celebrating her 60th this year? Neither can I because she doesn’t look a day over 22. To mark this special anniversary, PÜR has released a Barbie collaboration that is the stuff of my childhood Barbie Dream House fantasies. Although I didn’t actually have a Barbie Dream House, I did have my share of Barbie dolls decked out in all their nineties neon and puff-sleeved glory. This collection brings the Barbie glamour on a more grown-up (but still very sparkly) level. The complete collection includes a highlighter, gloss, lashes, complexion brush and peel-off mask, but I only tried the items that really drew me in: the four lipsticks and the eyeshadow palette.

This lipstick is a showstopper for a number of reasons. First, the packaging is probably the most stunning and gorgeous I’ve ever seen, especially at such a reasonable price point. The ombré glitter and rose gold cover is truly beautiful in person, and no, the glitter doesn’t flake off and get all over your hands and purse. With a unique push button on top that releases the lipstick bullet, and the crazy amazing sparkly exterior of the actual lipstick, I could just sit and stare for hours at how pretty it all is.
The packaging would honestly be enough for me to love these lippies, but the semi-matte formula and shades are really great as well. They all have a light, sweet fragrance that reminds me of vanilla frosting or candy. My favorite shade of the four is Timeless, a not-too-red-red that brightens up the face but isn’t too much. I wore it on a trip to Disneyland and it lasted for a number of hours without touch-ups and matched the bow on my Minnie Mouse ears. Classic is a nice nude, and Legendary is a bold, vibrant pink that screams Barbie. Inspire, a deep berry, is my least favorite just because it doesn’t apply quite as evenly as the other shades. All in all, however, these lipsticks are winners in my book and it makes me so happy to take these little sparklers out of my bag to apply.
I am really inspired by this eyeshadow palette and think it’s a great option for those of us who love a little sparkle and color, but also want to be able to create an easy neutral look, and do it all with one palette. With a mix of different finishes (and a glitter!), these shadows do have a lot of kick back in the pan and I strongly recommend tapping all the excess off your brush before applying. When using the shimmery shades, it’s probably a good idea to do the eyes before the rest of the complexion so you can dust off any shimmer fallout, because there will be some. I also found tapping the shimmers on with my fingertip produced the best result. The glitter shade Accessory, which has a gel-like feel in the pan and applies quite evenly on the lid, definitely benefits from a glitter glue type of primer in order to minimize finding glitter flecks on your face throughout the day.
Role Model makes a great transition shade, and the matte pink, appropriately called Barbie™, is really impressive because it applies smoothly with a lot of color payoff. I used both of these to create a sort of pinky sunset look that I loved. I also enjoyed pairing the deeper brown called Vintage with the metallic blue named after Ken. Aside from the fact that these are pretty dusty, I have only positive things to say about this palette and feel like the shades included are really reflective of the fun-loving Barbie spirit.
