I didn’t pick this face wash out for myself. In fact, no one really did. I received a free full-size bottle of the Nutritive Cleanser with an order I was placing on PerriconeMD.com. Shocker: I was buying makeup from the No Makeup line, and wasn’t even looking at the brand’s other skincare. So fate and the universe brought this cleanser and me together.
The 6 oz. version I have is housed in a really lovely tinted glass bottle with a black plastic pump (I love the glass bottle, both because it has an apothecary vibe and because I can wash and reuse it, but take note that it is breakable and less travel friendly. I think they’re also releasing a squeezy tube version).
The directions on the bottle say to use morning and evening, so this could easily be a one-stop-shop product for cleansing the face. I’m still loving Tatcha’s The Rice Polish as my morning face wash (check out my review of that product here), so I use one pump of this clear gel cleanser every night after I remove my eye and brow makeup with the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover. The Nutritive Cleanser does a great job removing whatever makeup is left on my skin and leaving my face feeling super clean and fresh.

Now, we have to talk a little bit about the scent of this product. When I first tried it, I genuinely thought I wouldn’t be able to use it because…this face wash smells like baby powder. Bleh. If you like a fresh, powdery scent, you’ll love this. It’s not normally something I would go for, however, it did grow on me a little as I kept using it. It doesn’t linger, so I really only smell it right when I pump it out of the bottle and for a few seconds as I lather it onto my skin. Would it be better if it didn’t smell like this? Yes? Can I get over it because it’s otherwise an amazing cleanser? Yes.
My favorite thing about this cleanser is how gentle it really is. It feels conditioning and soft as I apply it, and after I rinse it off, my skin isn’t immediately tight and dry like it can be with other cleansers. This has never made me break out, and I like that it has alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate my dry, flaky skin without any rough scrubbing.
The true test of how much I like a product is whether or not, given the plethora of options out there, I want to purchase and use it again. I’m officially on my second bottle of the Nutritive Cleanser (my first bottle lasted me a solid ten months!) and I never stray from it at this point. It’s a staple in my medicine cabinet and a must-have in my skincare routine.
