Picture this: you actually have enough time to do a whole makeup look and you’re really loving it. You leave the house (pre-or post-coronavirus, of course, because we’re all staying at home unless it’s really necessary to go out, right?), and poof, within hours, due to heat, sleet, humidity or any number of non-weather circumstances, your blush has faded and your concealer seems to have disappeared along with it. Setting spray, like Morphe’s Continuous Setting Mist, is here to save the day. Formulated with Vitamin E, Vitamin B5 and fruit extracts, it’s designed to set makeup and keep it in place. Liz stumbled upon this Morphe mist almost by accident, and she’s pretty happy she had such luck.

Tested for Years, Posted in April 2020
About two years ago, I stopped by the Morphe store in Burbank, California for the first time. I’d heard a lot of good things about this budget friendly brand, but had never actually tried it. I went in for some of the synthetic brushes in their Gold Series and then stood in the check-out line, where I saw the Continuous Setting Mist sitting there in a sleek black bottle. I noticed it was less than $20, and I picked up a bottle on impulse. Talk about serendipity.
No need to be coy: I LOVE THIS SETTING SPRAY. Before Morphe, I’d used many others, including the old go-to, Urban Decay All Nighter. Don’t get me wrong, All Nighter absolutely gets the job done, but it’s always been a little drying on my skin and I can’t use it day after day. Not so with the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist. I’ve gone through a few bottles now and my skin never feels dry using it. It claims to have a radiant finish, but if this isn’t your speed, there’s also a brand new Mattifying Continuous Setting Mist that could be great for oilier skin types.

The most wonderful thing about this product is that it’s a true mist. Unlike a lot of setting sprays, which come with a pump applicator where you have to spray multiple, separate pumps of product onto the face, the Morphe mist is a continuous spray. Press down on the air-powered sprayer and a super fine, lightweight mist dispenses until you lift your finger. This makes it possible to get a even cloud of mist on the face and minimizes the need to try to aim a direct sprayer with your eyes closed, hoping to get your face and not the bathroom mirror. Also unlike other setting sprays out there, there’s no splashing, no droplet marks on the face, no squinting in surprise as a spritz hits you, and no annoyance at the fact that your shirt just got dosed too. This mist feels like nothing, leaves no residue and doesn’t require more than a second or two to dry on the skin.
And it works! I don’t use this every day, but I absolutely could. I generally reach for it on special occasions or when I’ve spent some time on my makeup (we’re talking foundation, eyeshadow AND bronzer people) and I want it to last for many hours. I didn’t used to think spraying something on my face after I’ve done all my makeup sounded like a wise choice, but it is with this spray. I notice a big difference in how long my makeup lasts and how fresh it stays when I use this, especially with color products on the face, like blush and bronzer.
Morphe’s slogan for this mist is “Defend your artistry,” and that’s a great way to think about what this product does. Something magical in here keeps color brighter and prevents product from moving around. It helps keep everything where you, the artist, chose to put it. As impulse buys go, this mist is one I’ll never regret!
