Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation is the fullest coverage foundation in the brand’s lineup. It claims to create a “flawless, comfortable canvas that lasts up to 12 hours.” Honestly, with a price tag like this it had better! As a professional quality foundation from a renowned makeup artist, I’m curious to see if it lives up to expectations.

Laura Mercier herself says “A woman should feel flawless every day… whatever the occasion.” Without even knowing what she’s selling, I’m on board. If you’ve read nearly any review of mine you know I’m a big fan of multitasking products, so I originally bought this foundation with the idea that I could use it full coverage for special occasions or thin it out with moisturizer for more every day events. Fortunately, this worked out beautifully and I often use a combination of the two methods- sheered out around the perimeter of my face (where excess might settle into fine lines) and full strength around my nose and eyes where I have redness/darkness. A note of importance: read the directions and shake before every use. I have, on occasion, forgotten to shake the bottle after letting this sit for a while and had the product come out slightly separated and unusable. A quick shake is paramount.

Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation comes in a squeeze tube which I’m a big fan of because the tube makes it easy to get even the last bit of product out. Also I don’t find myself pumping out too much or clogging a dispenser. The formula doesn’t run but rather sits like true crème or even a gel because it is so lightweight.
This Photo Edition foundation can look a bit heavy in person if not carefully applied. I find a damp beauty sponge works well, especially if you go back over it all with the clean side afterwards. If you want to conserve product, finger tips also work well for application. I wore this foundation for my wedding and my makeup both stayed put for the duration of the event and looked just as good in pictures as it did in person. I really felt like this foundation helped the other products layered over it to stay put as well.
I don’t use primer with the Silk Crème Foundation; I have tried and it either had no effect or caused the moisturizing formula to slide around. Just a clean and moisturized face seems to work best for me. I have this in two shades: Beige Ivory for Winter and Cashew Beige for Summer.

I love the staying power and versatility of this foundation. Even more so, I love that once it’s on I can’t feel it and the color match is so good I can’t see it. Laura Mercier Silk Crème Moisturizing Photo Edition Foundation leaves a luminous (but not sticky) finish and a truly your skin but (much) better look. It absolutely lives up to the hype and is the most flawless, full coverage of any foundation I’ve ever used. The foundation does requires a good makeup removing cleanser to take off but I’d expect that from a long-wearing product. I’d much rather have that be the case than find it all rubbed off by the end of the day. This foundation will remain in my collection as a go-to for any time I want to feel flawless, “whatever the occasion.”
