Korean beauty brand Laneige is known for its sleeping masks for lips and skin. Described as a daytime companion to the Lip Sleeping Mask, the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm is formulated with murumuru and shea butters to hydrate the lips and keep moisture locked in. Liz tried out the balm in Berry (it also comes in Peach, Pear and Grapefruit) during the first few weeks of colder weather in LA to see if it works.

Tested December 2019
The Lip Glowy Balm has been on my wants list for a while. I’ve seen one of my favorite beauty YouTubers, Allie Glines, use this on her channel many times, and it was just in her Best High End Makeup of 2019 video. I can see why, because this little balm is wonderful.
It’s packaged in a squeezy tube common for lip gloss formulas. I don’t really know if I should call this “scented” or “flavored” or describe the Berry as a “shade” because although it’s tinted a really light pink when it comes out of the tube, it blends out clear on my lips and doesn’t really impart any color.
Swatch At Application Swatch Blended Out
The Berry scent/flavor/shade comes across fruity and if you’ve ever tried one of those Hi-Chew candies, I think this product smells just like them. The scent does dissipate pretty quickly, which is fine with me.
It’s hard for me to describe what it is that makes me like this balm so much. It is technically just a clear lip balm. I do love how it feels on the lips, however; it’s light and pillowy and not at all sticky. There is no stringy-ness, no grainy feeling when I press my lips together and they feel smooth and look just the right amount of shiny.

My favorite way to use this is to apply it right after I wash my face in the morning and let it sink into the lips as I get dressed and do the rest of my makeup. By the time I put on a lipstick, it’s worn off a little and my lips are left moisturized with a balmy texture. I think it’s as hydrating (if not more) as any ChapStick or generic lip balm, and lots more fun to use with the scent and the colorful packaging. I’m keeping this front row in my medicine cabinet and recommend it to help keep lips glowy and soft.
