Toted as a serum for all skin types, Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum (a gel really) claims to resurface skin and pave the way for all products that follow. It’s formulated to have a pH of 3.8 (supposedly ideal) and goes without any essential oils, silicone or fragrance (aka irritants).

I originally bought this product for my husband, in an attempt to fade the sunspots that make his forehead look like camo print (don’t tell him I said that). I only succeeded in getting him to use it regularly for a couple weeks at best, not enough time to make any difference. I get it, to him it was an odorless, clear gel that felt like nothing. (He actually confessed later he thought he could just use that instead of moisturizer because it “felt wet”). I quit.
So I took it for myself, because it is $90 for just one ounce. Blessing in disguise really because I LOVE it! Since using it I have noticed a decrease in pore size, acne and texture. My moisturizer seems to be absorbing better and my foundation goes on smoother. I don’t have any dark spots (yet) so can’t comment on its ability to fade them but as a chemical exfoliant (mix of AHA/BHAs- glycolic, lactic, citric, and tartic acids, + raspberry) it’s stellar!
I have noticed a bit of sensitivity if I use it after a scrub, which makes sense and a dry, tight feeling if say the baby cries and I go running leaving moisturizer un-applied (which also makes sense). For skin that tends towards sensitive I’m a huge fan. The gel dries down in seconds and doesn’t feel tacky. I will absolutely be repurchasing.
Bonus: Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free. AND doesn’t use any of the “Suspicious 6” in their products (essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical screens, fragrance/dyes, and SLS).
