The summer season is in full swing and although it may feel very different from summers past (thanks for nothing COVID), my summer skin is craving products that are both lightweight and hydrating. Enter the Deep Moisture Fix Hydrating Water Cream from Care. According to the brand, “Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera team up in this delectable, hydrating gel-cream to instantly vanish dryness and dullness, illuminating skin from within. Vitamins C and E protect and nourish, while caffeine helps firm and brighten.” All of that sounds wonderful, but does this jar of pink gel deliver real results?

Tested June-July 2020
Since June reared its sunny head, the temperatures in Southern California have climbed into the 80s, 90s and 100s and this always means one thing for me: dry skin. It’s a different kind of dry skin than I have during the winter. In the winter, I usually get flaky, my skin loses some glow and I’m looking for ultra-hydrating, creamy moisturizers. In the summer, my skin feels stretched and parched like it’s been sucked dry, and I want a hydrating product that feels lightweight and won’t melt off.
Deep Moisture Fix Hydrating Water Cream comes in a 1.7 oz. jar and has become a daily staple for me over the past two months. A very light pink gel texture, this moisturizer is great for daytime. I settled into a routine of using Care’s Eye + Lip Nourishing Cream after cleansing, and then applying the Deep Moisture Fix as my day cream and moving The Everything Multi-level Moisturizer, which is thicker and leaves the skin somewhat tacky, to my night cream (don’t forget to read my review of the other two Care products here). This is the perfect combination of products from the Care line, and I’ve been really happy with how well my skin is maintaining its hydration as I use these three daily.
The Deep Moisture Fix absolutely feels more like a gel than a cream. This means that when I apply it to the skin, it goes on clear, absorbs quickly and doesn’t need to be worked in. My skin is left instantly hydrated without feeling goopy or looking shiny. It even has a temporary and very welcome cooling effect. I think the Aloe Vera from the ingredients list helps with this, and I should also mention the formula is free of potentially drying ingredients like alcohol.
To show how well a small amount of this product will moisturize the skin, take a look at the before and after photos below. I washed my hands first and I think it’s (grossly) obvious how dry my skin is after doing this. I then swatched some of the Deep Moisture Fix on my hand, rubbed it in, and snapped another photo which shows how much better my skin looks after using this cream.
I’ll be honest, this product is something of a doppelganger for Clinique’s Moisture Surge. I made the comparison the moment I opened the Care jar; it even looks and smells very much the same. It also delivers similarly light and hydrating results, so if you like Clinique’s version, you’ll probably like this as well. I know I do. And if you’re keeping tabs, the Care version is $4.50 less than Clinique’s.
I’m really loving this moisturizer for the summer months and definitely recommend it if you have dry skin. The gel texture is so lightweight, however, I think all skin types could use this. Care even suggests using a thicker layer of this product as a 5-minute mask, and although I don’t use it this way (I have lots of other masks I love, like the ones I reviewed here), it’s good to know this jar could multi-task if needed. Right now, I’m happily enjoying it’s moisturizing, lightweight formula to help me kick-start my day with hydrated, healthy looking skin.
