Available in 11 shades and touted as being highly pigmented as well as waterproof, this new Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW® Gel formula is said to build up brow hairs providing “fullness and natural dimension with a matte finish.” DIPBROW gel is supposedly a hybrid of their two best sellers (brow gel and DIPBROW pomade) and was 3 years in the making…was it worth the wait?

In a word- no. I have both the original DIPBROW pomade and the clear gel and really like both so I feel confident in saying this new product is a pass. The original DIPBROW is a pot of pomade, it never really “dries down” but because it is waxy it adheres to your skin and lasts most of the day. The clear brow gel on the other hand does dry down and in my opinion is one of the best on the market. It keeps my wiry and unruly brows in place without being shiny or crunchy. The combination of the two is fantastic- the precision of the pomade (with the recommended brush) and the staying power of the gel. I had high hopes for this new launch, assuming it would merely be a combination of the two. Unfortunately, it misses the mark for me.
The key to the brilliance of the original DIPBROW pomade pot is that it allows you to control the amount used (I’ve seen brow artists on IG draw single hairs mimicking microblading using this). In comparison, the DIPBROW gel is messy. Though the DIPBROW gel applicator is smaller than their standard brow gel applicator, it’s still impossible to neatly define the brows. If you press hard enough to get the DIPBROW gel onto your skin, you’re left with a blob and if you don’t, the result is only slightly fuller brow hairs where you already had them. If you’re like me and need to fill in spots, you’re out of luck. Take a look at this picture: can you even tell which brow had the DIPBROW gel applied?
If by some stroke of luck you have naturally beautiful soft brows that only need a light hold and slight thickening, then you might benefit from this, but for the rest of us, it’s not worth your money.
